Within the next few weeks we'll be traveling through Denver, CO. Anyone have any recommendations for what to see and do in and around Denver? What about where to stay?
Thanks for any info!

Go the Coors brewery in Golden, just a bit north and west of Denver. From Golden go up to Lookout Mountain to Buffalo Bill's grave site and museum.
The U.S. Mint is also a great tour. You need reservations here is the Denver Mint information.

I've gone out there the last two years and have stayed at St. Vrain State Park near Longmont. Nice place to stay.

We stay at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds in Golden (known as Jefco). They have power and water hook-ups. The campground is located high on hill overlooking the area. There is a very clean shower house. We stay there whenever in town to visit family. Dakota Ridge is also in Golden, a full service campground but on the pricey side and very tight. Jefco is much quieter and lots of wide open space.
Denver has many attractions - just depends on what you like, everything from a water park in the northern area to the zoo, botanical gardens, amusement park, science museum and art museum in the inner city. Like most major metropolitan areas...things are spread out a lot. If you like trains don't miss the train museum in Golden and the Georgetown Loop in Georgetown up in the foothills.

As a Denver native, I have to say there are many things there that are outstanding. The Museum of Natural History, now called the Museum of Nature and Science, is a good bet.
Just for a lark, dinner at the Casa Bonita (west Colfax, actually in Lakewood, I believe) certainly falls in the touristy class. At one time the largest restaurant under one roof in the world. Cliff divers. Need I say any more? Food's OK.

Most of the things in the city of Denver are similar to what most cosmopolitan areas have but the Bonus is that they are at the foot of the Rockies. While they have many great sights and places to visit we try to spend a majority of our time in the Mountains.
Jefco Fairgrounds and Clear Creek are our two choices for CG's in the area -- Clear creek is usually full and requires a little planning to get into but is well worth it -- putting you in the town of Golden and right on Clear Creek.
Peak to Peak is a great drive -- Boulder is a fun College town with it's Farmers Market that is one of the top in the Country (JMHO). The drive to Leadville (Being that Denver is in the 90's now and Leadville might require a sweater in the evenings. While there the drive (in the toad) over Independence Pass to Aspen is a must -- catch Maroon Bells while there.
I could ramble on and on but I think you get the idea.
Enjoy the area.
