I found that the Camper stores are now carrying the kit to do this. It comes in a couple of different color strings and instructions, and its inexpensive.
I bought the kit and then called the mobile RV repair and made him do it though! I watched him do it and it is not rocket science by any means.

It is not really that difficult just time consuming. I purchased a kit from The Dirty Blind Man It came with a CD with instructions. Now I just purchase the thread and do it myself. You can also find instructions at Fix my blinds Go to the section on RV Day Night Shade Restring Instructions.

DW and I just did a 5' wide day/night last weekend using a Dirty Blind Man kit I ordered from Tweety's. The hardest part was clearing off the dining room table (in the house) so we had a place to spread everything out.
The clips holding the blind to the window frame were a little puzzling, but other than that just take your time and follow instructions and it is a POC.

Use a bed to work on the bigger ones then you can leave the parts like the end caps etc., laid out as they come off with no confusion when it's time for them to go back on.

For about two dollars we bought enough string at the fabric store to do every blind in out fiver a couple of times over. This stuff is cheap and easy to do. And you do not need to spend big dollars at the RV store for a "kit".

If you have lots of time and lots of patience, it can be done. I have done several. Each shade seems to be a different configuration. The four string blind took the longest. I, too, bought the cord from Jo-Ann Fabrics by the yard and also bought a kit for around $20.00. The kit was precut cord into 4 sections. I had to refigure how to do the day/night shade with 4 cords, but it worked. Finally. Taking it down, reinstalling and getting the tension just right is harder than restringing.
