Paid $50 to have my auto mechanic install....... did an excellent job. Knew what he was doing. Probably could have done it myself, but for $50? Heck I'm not even going to attempt it. LOL))

I did the same in my truck, installing my B&W. Also helped my brother put one in his F350. Took about 5 hours, each time. The B&W is a bolt-on installation, with the exception of the 4" hole that the gooseneck anchor goes through and the 4 1/2" holes for the GN safety chain loops. If you never use a GN, you can leave these out, but they're so unobtrusive, I don't know why you wouldn't go ahead and install them...just in case you ever need to move a GN.

The safety chain loops are also nice additional tie-down points in the bed of the truck.

If the OP happens to need one more affirmative, I installed mine at age 61. Wanted it done right. As previously mentioned, you can see some sloppy work looking under fenders of trucks at the RV dealership.

Me too...same age, same reason. I used a custom kit for my truck so that I didn't have to drill the frame. It took ten holes in the bed but it went in fairly easily. Read the instructions a few times and plan it out before you get out the drill & it isn't that big of a job. The place I got the hitch & kit...etrailer.com...has videos online showing actual installations in some trucks.

I have installed mine twice. One was in a Ford and the other was in the Dodge I currently own. My manufacturer has all of the install instructions on their website so I just ordered the new frame brackets for my application, printed out the instructions for my vehicle, and did it myself. Took me about 4 hours both times. I measured about 10 times and drilled once....Good luck!

As a newbie, with some mechanical experience, I installed my Reese 16k. Biggest thing saved me when installing both it and the brake controller was YouTube. Both had videos of the installs in my 1979 F250 of all things.

I order a Curt Q20 hitch today with the rails and custom installation bracket. I thought that I found a good deal on the older Q5 but it was just on the web site but when you go to check out it said none were available still I got whole setup for about $750 which is cheaper than from the dealer. They charge for 4 hours but with custom installaton bracket an experience person should be able to do in half that time. The quote for the reese select plus 20K hitch was over $1300 from master hitch. The Curt Q20 seems to be close in capability.
