Plan on spending a night or two in Fancy Gap, VA. It's a few miles North of Mt. Airy, NC, otherwise known as Mayberry from the Andy Griffith show. It's a beautiful campground near the blueridge parkway, antique shops, and good Southern cooking. Mt. Airy is a neat little town to visit.
Another good place to spend the night is Smithfield KOA in NC. There is an outlet mall near by and a neat store called JR's. It has all kinds of cool stuff, most notable is one of the world's largest cigar humidor. It's located at exit 97 off I-95
2007 Dodge RAM 2500 Quad Cab w/6.7 Cummins
2013 Palomino Columbus 320RS
Reese 15K Pro Series manual slide
Prodigy
Firestone Air Bags
Champion 3500 genny
M.I.L denied parole! Yeah!
If you are interested in history, Tryon's Palace is in New Bern (colonial governor's mansion) plus other historic buildings to tour in that immediate location. In New Bern you can see the pharmacy that invented Pepsi. Also -North Carolina has a lot of historic sites run extremely well by the State. Google search the NC state history sites.
If a visit to the Outer Banks has any appeal, its about an hours drive from Havelock to the Cedar Island/Ocracoke ferry. I'll be glad to provide more detail about the area if you're interested.

Mayberry campground in Mt.Airy is nice and the owners are very friendly and helpful. He is a desendant of the original Siamase twins and is happy to tell you all about them! Its a short drive to downtown to have a porkchop sandwhich at Snappy Lunch, have a hair cut at Floyd's barber shop and right next door to FLoyds is Opie's Candy shop. At the other end of Main St. there is a museum and several neat shops on both side of Main St. You can also go on a tour of the town in a replica of the squad car from Andy Griffith show. And while in Havelock a trip to New Bern is a must, its a nice quaint historical town and we are right proud of it!
Oh and east of Havelock is the beach,go cross the bridge from Morehead City, take a left and go until the road ends at Fort Macon-a neat place to tour, they also have beach access and rest rooms.
