I'm thinking of looking for a Ford Sport Trac to use as a toad, for those towing one, what type of Ford Chassis/Engine to you have? And how do you like the chassis/engine doing the towing?

Be advised that there are not too many gasser MH's that can tow a vehicle over 5K. Most have 5K hitches only....

I towed a Sportrac with a driveshaft disconnect behind a 34' Hurricane with the V10 for 4 years with no problems. I hardly knew it was back there.

I'm towing an 08 Sport Trac behind our 32' gasser. You can only tow Sport Trac's that are 4WD, not AWD... Mine is the V-8 (which actually gets better MPG than the V-6) and my tow weight is approx. 4750 pounds on a 5000 pound hitch. I did upgrade everything else, however to at least 10K strength just to be on the safe side. The hitch has handled it just fine, no damage or stress showing after towing 9K miles. My Towbar is a 10K rated bar too, so nothing to worry about there.

When you find the one you want, I can help you with the Ford Neutral Tow Kit if your dealer can't get one. (You can make your own for less than $12). Send me a PM with your Email address.

Thread

You will probably need the neutral tow kit mentioned in this link.
