have a suburban SW16DE gas/electric combo water heater.
last trip, was running it on electricity and it stopped working.
the fuse was tripped, I reset it and it still didn't come back on. checked the switch on the unit and its set to "on". tried the reset buttons (2 black buttons) and that didn't fix it.
gave up and switched over to propane and all was good. I would like to get it working on electricity again, but don't know what to do next.
It's possible the heating element is burned out and shorted itself. Takes some disassemply of the gas piping to get at the electic element but it's a high use item and should be at any RV place or hardware store.

It may have just tripped it as it blew out. Now that it is shot, there is no conductivity, so it won't trip the breaker. I've had that happen with light bulbs in the house....flip the switch, flash from the bulb, then everything out. As the bulb blew, the breaker tripped.

nope... it was full of water. was at a site for 6 nights and on night 3 the tank was cold. nothing i could do to get it to start again. switched to propane and all was good.
can I test the connections to see if there is electricity somehow?

is the electrical connection on the heating element something that is a black and white wire? in other words, can I put a volt meter on the two connections to see if I am getting power?
