I never looked at a 1/2ton Hemi, but can tell you my 2011 2500 Hemi (w/4.10) really moves.
I get about 10-11mpg towing our #6500 hybrid trailer at 70mph...and you gotta love that Hemi sound.
On the flats, not towing, she'll get 15-16mpg at 65mph.

How much payload do you want? For the F-150 Ford offers a "max trailer towing" package which bumps up GVWR to as high as 7700 pounds. Payload is as high as 1950 pounds for a Crew Cab Ecoboost. For 2012, Ford is planing to offer a "max payload package" that offers up to 2590 pounds of payload with 8200 pounds GVWR.

I like the Hemi a lot, just not the transmission gearing.

In spite of the gearing, the Hemi 2500 performs very well in comparison testing with other brand 3/4 ton v8 offerings. The 545rfe transmission operation has been altered for 2012, but I have not read or heard how it compares to 2011 and prior as of yet.

How can you trust a manufacturer who puts a hemi badge on the fender but not one under the hood?
You cannot buy a new vehicle with a hemi in it.

Technically he is right. Not a true "Hemi" hemispherical combustion chambers.
But, "Semi Hemi" or "Poly" doesn't sound as good.
That argument is like saying, there is nothing "Eco" about the Eco Boost

Ya, I think you're right, can't trust them at all. Putting those lying badges on those hoods. Can't trust a word they say. I had one a few years ago. I'm going to go through all my old records and remove anything to do with that truck. Just can't trust them. What nerve, calling that engine a "hemi".
