Are any of the Digital TV signals being broadcast now, being broadcast in HDTV? Just curious if my HDTV in the RV is getting an HDTV signal through the batwing antenna on the roof is the same as the HDTV that is coming into my house from the cable company (which needs a special HDTV tuner box). The connection to the TV in the RV is coax and not an HDTV connector cable (as I assume most if not all rv tvs are connected by coax).

You should have no problem receiving hd digital signal with yge batwing assuming you have a digital hd tv and it is configured properly. No need for special box for over the air signals. I did find though that I have to rotate the antenna quite a bit to get good signals though.

Almost true
I have an older 720P flat screen and it does not have a digital tuner so it won't get HDTV unless I use a converter box.
Yes it is very old and newer ones do have the tuner

I was pleasantly surprised to find that my newly installed HDTV got excellent HD pictures with just the batwing antenna. I have found that you have to be much more precise in aiming the batwing for digital reception. My next upgrade will be the "wingman" attachment to the batwing.

Over the air HDTV that comes into your HD TV through the antenna connection is not the same as the HDTV on your digital cable box. It is much better, as it is a higher bandwidth signal, allowing more of the video stream to come through unaltered from the way the network sent it out.
The cable and satellite companies need to further compress the HD stream to fit it into the available bandwidth. Sometimes the additional compression gets really annoying, as when a person turns his head slightly in a closeup shot, and his nose moves but his cheeks don't, or they move at slightly different times.

At the house we have a converter on an old TV and we get just over 20 channels. Most of them are HDTV. Did not want to pay for any dish stuff since they do not do the internet there. Cable stops a mile or so and they have no plans to go any closer. Since we would rather have the internet than 100's of channels that we would not watch anyway we decided against anything but the converter box.

Thanks for the responses! The RV has an LED/LCD screen, digital tuner HDTV so now I know that the signals coming through are actually HDTV.

Yes. Many stations have both SD and HD broadcasts.. For example where I"ll park next week I hope to bet Chan 2 out of Detroit
2-1 is SD
2-2 is the same show in HD format.
No special anything needed, if your TV can get 2-1, it can get 2-2 but you may need to change a menu setting to properly display it. (Picture format from "normal" to "Letter box" or some such If you have an older tv this is done in the converter box.. It may be done automatically) If you have a newer HDTV then you change from "Pillar box" for SD to "normal" for HD) (And again, Automatic may be the way it's done)
