Have an opportunity to purchase a 2008 Fleetwood Bounder Diesel and was wondering if anyone had any experience with this unit.

It has 12K miles on it, and seems to be all I need in a MH. I just bought my TT, but thinking about trading up... Dealer called me b/c I had been looking for an affordable diesel unit and he is taking this one in on trade..

So, whats your opinion of the MH? Looking for all comments good or bad...

Thanks!

Mike

They sure sell a lot of these units...Bounder is a staple of Fleetwood and the Diesel model has all the good DP basics...You will probably take a heavy hit on the TT trade in..but once you drive a DP, that's it....

We have an 05 Fleetwood Expedition we bought new, which is a Bounder with full body paint. It has air bags, EMS, built in inverter, lots of bells and whistles. Mine rides and drives great, esp compared to the old gas rigs I had. Mine has a CAT C7 and an Onan 7500 QD genset. I think the 08 has a Cummins ISB and 6000 QD genset unless someone ordered the bigger one. Ours has treated us well, no complaints.

A few negatives are the pressed wood cabinet fronts. The doors are solid wood but not fronts. Some of the wall covering trim has started to lift off. Wish the genset and batteries slid out. I got a great deal on mine; 31% off MSRP so about $125K out the door.

Some things to think about; check the tire age; depending on when the chassis was built your tires could be coming up on five years. At $600+ a pop, it adds up.

Also, at five years, all the fluids eg differential, power steering, coolant, trans, belts, air compressor filter and dessicant, etc is coming up. $$$ Repeat for the genset; coolant, air, fuel and oil filters.

If I were buying today in this market, I would take the money and buy the best used Foretravel I could find.

This one has air ride suspension. Some of the bells and whistles it comes with are:

- Air Ride
- Washer Dryer
- Satellite

It seems like a nice unit with low miles. I am investigating how much such a unit would go for in this market. I would say I would get a significant savings over the MSRP of 135 (Per the dealer, but I think that padded a bit)

We have a 2007 Bounder Diesel. We really like the unit and it has most of the amenities one would expect in a more expensive coach. It has been very reliable for us. Some corners cut in cabinet construction and finishes. For 2008 they lowered engine power from the Cat to the Cummins ISB-XT 325hp. But it still has the Allison 3000 trans and they heavier 31000 GVW chassis. You should be able to find one of these for around $110k or so.
