My local dealer doesn't have one, but I'm interested in this trailer.

I'd like to install a regular queen size bed, which means I need 6" of clearance between the end of the OEM short-queen and the back of the entertainment center.

I wrote Jayco and asked for this information...they responded with a floor plan but didn't answer my question.

Is there a 29QBH owner here who can answer this question? I'd sure appreciate it.

I'd also love to hear any other feedback wrt to this model.

Well it all depends on what is in the way. What is it bumping up against (the headboard and footboard)? If there simply isn't enough space, you aren't going to be able to add one without taking something out. The design in my jayco, there is no way I could put in a longer bed as the back of it rests against back wall of trailer and front rests aginst a wall, that has my two recliners on the other side. Taking out that wall would be a huge undertaking and i wouldn't want to lose my recliners either. So if your set up in your Jayco is anything like mine, its probably just not possible without a huge undertaking. It sounds like in this model you reference it is the entertainment center that the bed is butted up against. No way to add more room without moving the ent. center.

Can you post a pic of the floor plan that jayco sent you? They probably didn't really know what you were asking.

I believe this is the one they are looking at. There appears to be some room, but a longer mattress may block the way around the bed.

Most Jayco's i have seen don't even have a full walk around bed, so the fact that this one has some room, is a plus. Ours has plenty of room on each side, but goes wall to wall on the ends. My master br looks exactly like that one minus any room in between that wall and end of the mattress.

If he wants to go for the longer mattress then it is probably going to be a given that having a walk around bed isn't going to be possible, without reconfiguring (i.e. moving) that entertainment center.

On our 28 BHS the bed is walk around, but then it has to be, there is only one entrance to the bedroom. A longer mattress in ours would for sure block the way around.

I just looked at that TT a my local Jayco dealer. I noticed about 5 or 6 inches from the bed to the entertainment center. It is a very tight fit. I don't think you would be able to make a 60 X 80 mattress fit.

Yeah, with that design you have, they have to make it a walk around. No doubt.

Sidenote, anyone notice how Jayco model numbers always seem to start with a number that is usually several inches shorter than the length? Mine is a 23 FB and everyone assumes the 23 is the length, but it isn't, its 26 ft. I have seen 30 foot models with 28 as the starting number in model, and so on. Not a biggie, just wonder why they do that. People who don't know jayco assume its the length.

A standard queen bed is 60"x80". A RV Queen is 60"x75" (not a 6" difference, but a 5" difference). If the current queen mattress is 5" or more from the entertainment unit wall..put a standard queen there and enjoy!

JWalker...Jayco model numbers includes the rear bumper and the front hitch (3') into the equasion.

EXAMPLE-A Jayco 33RLDS means "Rear Living Room"..."Dinette Slide". I'ts model number is "33" but it's actually 35'6" long COUNTING the rear bumper at 6" and the front hitch at 3' long.

My posts shouldn't be taken for factual data. They are purely fictional, for entertainment purposes and should not be constituted as actually related to scientific, technical, engineering, legal, spiritual or practical advice. Amen.

So if mine is a 23 fb, does that mean mine is really 23 ft long with a 3 ft hitch?

The 23FB has an actual exterior Length of 26' 5"...including the 3' hitch and 5" bumper. Our 28.9 BHS 5th wheel is 26'5" long..add in the rear bumper and front 5er pin box its 28'9" long.
