I think you mean El Reno, Oklahoma.
When were you there? We pulled into the Elk City OK KOA on Sunday June 19 with the wind blowing 30 mph and the temperature 108 degrees. My 11,000 btu loud AC worked like a champ also.
If I remember right DC motors speeds are controlled by resistors, AC is by windings, the motor has multiple wires coming out and each controls a different number of windings. A resistor on an AC motor will do the same thing as low voltage in a campground i.e. potentially fry the motor.
I have the same complaints with my Duo-Therm, can't hear myself think when it's running.
Icing may well be a problem also with reduced evaporator air flow.

Yeh, Oklahoma, not Kansas. We were there in late July for one night, but we have stayed there many times before. Its a little over half way to Colorado for us. Never had a problem at that CG; they seem to run a tight ship.
We stayed one night at the Salina, Ks KOA on the way back home.

I have the 11k btu Brisk Air also in my Weekender. I've never had such a loud one in all the RVs I've had. After the new truck I'm going to pull it off and replace it. I don't use it all the often as I mostly dry camp and don't have a generator, so there really is no hurry. I used it while cleaning the camper up when I purchased it and BOY!, I had to crank the stereo up so loud I thought I'd blow the speakers!

I am sorry that your A/C is creating some issues for you in how loud it is. For me, working and being out in the 111 degree temperatures and 80% Humidity on the Plains this summer. I loved that sound as I soaked in that cool air as I cooled my eyeballs from being cooked riding on the motorcycle. The sound of mine is loud, but music to my ears as I know the alternative of not having it come on would not be as pleasing.
I don't mind the noise when I'm crashed out in the cabover after a long day, in fact, I kinda like it. But it really bothers me when I'm standing up in the floor area with my head only a couple of feet from the thing and my wife is trying to tell me something and I can't hear a word she is saying...................wait a minute, I may need to reconsider this a bit.

Well, being retired, we're pretty mobile people. And we like being outside. We wouldnt remain long in an area where 111/80% is going on continuously. Who wants to spend any time INSIDE a TC? For us, a TC is all about where you can GO with one and still have all the amenities.
Still hoping someone comes us with alternatives besides "....not having it...". Otherwise, I WILL remove it and replace it. We've actually taken to wearing ear plugs to bed, which isnt so bad, but it's nigh on impossible to hear each other in conversation, when its running. My last Carrier was much more quiet and I loved the dump feature, the dynamic vents and vent closures that actually worked.
Surely, there is an RV a/c mechanic out there who will eventually stumble on this and tell us how we might step the fan down and IF we run the risk of freeze up.
Much noise from my Duo-Therm comes from the air return vent and not the outlets. I changed filter types to a 1/4" tight-weave fiberglass and it seemed to reduce the noise a bit.
