Offering free shipping on a replacement purchase when the light should not have failed in that manner is not my idea of standing behind a product. Just saying!

You guys really need to read all the posts and my correction before continually whining.
As to replacing the lamp with an LED, that's their primary business, why wouldn't they?

I have to agree with SVCJeff!
If it turns out that your product is defective, or doesn't last as long as should be reasonably expected, you should replace it, or at least offer to repair the unit or replace the defective parts.
I have a Progressive Industries EMS-HW30C EMS-HW30C and when I had a problem with it the company President went out of his way on a holiday weekend to resolve the problem and replace the bad parts with no cost to me (no postage, no charge for the parts).
Surely, the StarLight people have had other complaints about this problem, they should stand behind their product and offer to replace at least the parts if not the whole unit.
I know if I were running a business, I would be deeply embarrassed by my products' failure and would certainly offer more mitigation than just free shipping on the cost of a new unit.

Free shipping is standing behind the product? He didn't say they replaced the light for free, just that they would SHIP it for free.
I am interested in this because I installed one of these lights about 2 years ago.
Absolutely it is standing behind an "out of warranty" product. Most companies would direct you to a place you can order parts. Skip:
There are 3 parts to that fixture:the body, the cover, and the electronics. I know they are very concerned about waterproofing of the board and that requires precision reassembly of the fixture itself. I've done it but can see their reluctance in offering iparts to the public that require taking it apart.

Darn - I was real interested in getting the Starlight 1000 lights - I guess my Lowes gooseneck clamp-on desk lamp plugged into my X10 motion sensor modules will have to wait awhile longer... Hmmm am I whining ?...

Hmmm am I whining ?... And you expect them to do what on an out of warranty product? While it would be great if the world operated as Fantastic Fan does, that's not reality. The OP's fixture dried up and cracked due to excessive heat and they want to sell him a new one. Agreed it would be nice to get a replacement case IF that's practical and hopefully he can plead that case.
In the meantime there are plenty of melted lenses and cases of porch lights found all over the place from folks leaving them on (yes I know that's what they're for). Mine looks like the day I installed it and it's at least as old as the OP's.
Both the OP and me paid $90+ for the fixture and incandescent lamp. Today they can be found and as much as 50% off that price, and includes a $25 LED. It's probably almost cheaper to buy a new one with LED than just the part.
