I have done a few more modifications to my camper and thought I would post them up.
The first one was adding a storage compartment under the rear exterior storage . I keep all my leveling blocks in this. It is just an ammo box from the surplus store.

The next mod I made was to add a hatch to better access the basement storage area. It is a Tempress marine hatch and was very easy to install. I cut the hole right in front of one of the floor supports and then added a floor support on the forward edge of the hole just to be safe.

Floor support

I also added two peices of aluminum angle to the exterior fiberglass that is just behind the wheel wells. I occasionally bump this area while loading and am tired of repairing the gel coat. I adhered the metal with silicone sealant.

Thanks for looking!

Greats mods! Not so sure I like the toe-stubber but maybe a throw carpet over the top will help. Really like the idea of storage for the levelers. Thanks for the ideas!

I actually do have a carpet runner over it. It is low profile and I positioned it in front of the fridge so that I would'nt be half standing on it while cooking.

Thank you for the ideas! Wanted to make little more use of my basement.

I really like the concept of the basement access hatch, but if possible, I would prefer something flush with the floor if that was possible to do.

Great idea - makes all that storage space more usable.

I guess if you did find the hatch being slightly raised was annoying, you could always replace it with a flush one at a later date, maybe just built out of plywood with a flush mounted brass handle.

I would definitely want a flush hatch. Other than that, the mods are good.

Mike, nice and clean. I have a quicky question, what brand mud flaps are on the truck? I just bought a 2011 Silverado and starting to set her up and I can see that I need wide flaps to protect body. Thanks---LOUIE

If the lid of that hatch is close to flat you could always make the hole oversized and mount it into a subframe so the top ends up flush. I think it would be easier to use the cut-out piece of floor as the door though. Carpet over the whole floor would make it disappear too.

I agree ... I think that would work out best.
