New to the forum with a specific question. We have a 2000 National Tropical with solid surface counter tops that have lost their shine. Any suggestions on the best way to restore the shine?

Thanks from hockeydog.

I believe there is a solid surface countertop polish on the market, but you may try just plain ole olive oil and buffing it. It's worth a try and probably on hand already.

If the solid surface is impermeable, (and I'm assuming it is, otherwise it would stain easily) wouldn't the oil just sit on the surface? Oil is good for wood surfaces, not so sure on surfaces where it can't penetrate.

I use Weinmans granite and corian cleaner wipes. Ours is a 2007, so hardly any scratches in the countertops, I do try an be extra careful. The wipes work well. If really scratched I think they can be sanded(I would hire a professional) and then they are new again.. would not trust myself to do it..Dona

If it is a Corian type surface then use NuFinish. I use it about every other month and the counters have a great shine. I think most car wax/polish will do a good job. Try it on a small spot and see the difference.

If all the shine is gone I would change it to a matt finish it wont show the scratches or what was thee before like a gloss finish will.

Lowes sells a solid surface cleaner/polisher in a spray bottle and it works great on our kitchen tops.
