WELL, my 08 rzr has ingested dust - again. And while it's running great, it won't be long before it needs to be rebuilt..The oil consumption is beginning.
So of course, I started looking around and found a custom rzr s with all the stuff I would like to have... It's close to the price of a nw one, but has all the aftermarket items such as skidplates, doors, new cage and really cool custom paint... etc.. Well, not quite - it doesn't have EPS which was the only big addition to mine.
It's about 7-8 inches wider than mine and a bit longer. We don't ride 50 trails, but sometimes the trail riding is tight.
DH (the rzr is mine) says we'll just not ride the tight trails or I can ride on the back of his 2-up if we ride such trails. I think he wants the larger ride because the regular one is tight for him.

So, I'm torn... spend the $2000 to fix old faithful or splurge on a a really nice one.

I feel your pain. Im in the same boat with my 08 RZR. I've got about 6 -8k in extras on this thing, it runs great and i have no issues with it. I really like the new RZR S and can't decide if i want to pull the tigger on a new one. I guess it would come down to what i could get for my 08.

Yep... figured out its less expensive to buy one which someone has put all the "extras" on than do the upgrades on a new one...
But its pricy just the same. It's an expensive hobby.

The RZR S is the same size as the regular RZR in the cab. Not going to help him fit.

I say do what your wallet can afford.

Buy the new one if you can and save up to fix the old one. I'm not very good about letting go of the old ones but they do tend to pile up.

I got rid of our 08 RZR but love my 2 up can am. Made the mistake of visiting the polaris dealership and saw the 2011 900. They are bad looking. Now I want one of those but am stuck in my payments on the new quad for a few years. It will be interesting to see more inprovements as they continue to evolve.

Depends on the trails you ride. If the majority are tighter trails then keep the normal width. If you are out in the open, or on rougher trails (whoops, jumps, faster terrain or faster riding) then the S will give you benefit.

I have ridden in both; friends have a standard width rzr and another has the S model. I prefer to ride in the S just because it is a little smoother and more sure-footed but when things get tight the S has a harder time.

Let the trails decide your choice, nothing else.

I like the Rzr S for the normal riding in WV. If I had access to the Paiute in Tha I would stick with a 50" Rzr. If I was in the Dunes in CA I would go Rzr XP. No matter which one I would buy the 5yr warranty. Polaris needs the 5yr warranty...
