I have a new camper. Tried to light the oven on our first trip with the new TT. Does it take a while to get it lit the first time???

The air needs to be purged from the lines… light the stove burners first to know the gas is that far, then light the oven…

Yes, it takes a long time. I use a gas match. Be sure to press the oven control knob in and hold it while lighting the pilot. Move the gas match around a bit and be sure to heat the thermocouple too. When this gets hot enough gas will flow and the pilot will remain lit.

Not if you turn the oven temp control to something like 300*, then light it!!

I use one of these...It doesn't really take all that long to get it lit.

I was able to get the burners on the stove to light, so I know gas is getting there. So are you saying instead of pushing in the knob and holding it on the pilot postion, I should turn the knob to 300 and then light the pilot???

Works for me. The entire oven gas bar will light, not just the pilot. However, on my oven there's nothing to hold in the pilot position.

Like the above, I purge the lines by lighting the burners first. Then turn them off.
Then using the propane match, I hold it under the pilot while turning the knob to pilot and pressing in on the knob. After a few seconds with the propane match still in position (and without releasing the knob), I turn the knob to about 200 or so and the main burner lights. Lights much easier than just trying to light the pilot by itself. Then I can turn the burner off if I only want the pilot on.
