It's that time of year again, when you all leave I got just home last night from a 9-day, 5100-km trip from Whitehorse to Yellowknife and back, and the highway is quiet even southbound but there's nobody heading north. Well, except for about 30 vehicles towing railway motorcars (speeders, Caseys, whatever you like to call them). They're headed for Anchorage for a series of runs on the AKRR - very cool!

It was great meeting so many of you this year. I hope that your "trip of a lifetime" turns out to be just the first of many

An RV trip to Alaska is still just a dream for me and, alas, will probably never transpire. Even so, I take my 'Streets and Trips' Alaska trip file out from time and tweak it.

I've always wanted to visit Yellowknife, probably just because of the name. I understand that there really isn't much there tho.

Thinking about 2013 as the year for that and Alaska too. We're jumping up to a FW next spring and think we need some experience pulling that before heading to the frozen north.

Not so. I had 2 nights booked but by the came I got to the hotel knew that I needed 1 more night and I wished I had the time to make it 4 nights total. The excellent Ingraham Trail alone takes a day to see.

Just got back from a CRUISE/RAIL trip to Alaska and want to do it in the RV next year. Fairbanks was great and want to do it at a slower pace.

I would move to Ketchakan. Neat place for me.

We're on the way home - in Meziadin Prov Park, BC tonight - our trip to Alaska (and Yukon and BC) was our once in a lifetime trip - everything we expected - and lots more - some 3000 pictures, 12,000 kilometres and 7 weeks later we can't say enough - mountains, glaciers, ocean, vistas, rough roads, puffins, grizzlies and great people - what a road trip ..... it just doesn't get any better ....

We're about to head outbound ourselves. (12 more days.) The only difference is that we live here. This will be our "adventure south" for the winter!

Just got home from a 10,775 mile trip to Alaska. It was a cool trip. It was actually cool, highs in the 60's. I think we had three days where it got into the 70's. Alaska is an amazing place, as well as the land between here and there.
