We moved from a TT to a class C and wouldn't go back. My tow vehicle was nearly maxed out so the towing could have been better with a bigger truck but we set up much faster with the class C. It is more enjoyable for us.
I am really amazed that Class C's are not as popular as some of the other type RV's. I guess the price point is about where you are at the edge and it's a matter of going over it a little and get a little more camper, or going more inexpensive and getting a lot more camper, but then having to deal with the towing.

They say that a class c is better for families and it does seem easier to drive. The extra bed over the cab is nice too. When it rains, the small 18 foot TT seems really small. Going bigger means a truck payment on top of a camper payment so why not go for a class c?

To be the devils advocate here, a class c "normally" will be more than an 18' TT payment and for a lot longer. In our case we are not saving money really in the long run. I mean, we are looking at trading a camper payment in for a class c payment which will be a couple hundred dollars more and for a loan that will be about 8 years longer. But, on the other hand, we will be trading a truck payment in for a car payment that will be about half the amount.
RVing is not a money saving thing. It definitely costs us. It's a way of life.
I just know that I'm looking for a bigger camper which means a bigger payment and I don't have a car payment now so if I had to get a truck that would mean another payment. Would it be worth having a truck just for camping? I know that motorhomes depreciate fast but with what a truck gets for mpg, I would be wasting money just going to work and back. Does anyone else feel that way?

Thats where we are at. We had to buy the truck because of the camper. WE didn't have anything to tow it with before. The truck is mainly used used just to tow the camper. It's our 2nd vehicle also. It gets 11mpg normally and 8 towing the camper. Our main issue is that when we go camping, we like to get out and explore the area. Especially when we are on week long trips. This past spring on our trip to Destin florida, besides the gas that we used on the trip going down there and back, we spent probably $300-400, just driving around and having to fill up. I have a toyota yaris that gets around 37 mpg. if we had it with us, we would of saved $200-300 right there in gas. During the school year, my wife uses the truck to take my daughter to the school bus. During the winter, they will idle and run the heater. It kills me in gas just then. I'm having to fill it up every week and half just on that. I'm thinking an rv payement about hte same as our truck payment and then a car payment of less than our current TT payment would be better for us. Plus it will give my wife something more economical to drive. We are racking up the miles on my yaris. Thankfully only one more year of payments on it, which are only half of our TT payment now...lol The good thing is that we are ahead of the game on the truck. Trade in value is about $6500 more than what we owe. A good down payment on a new little car.
WE are going to an RV show today. Hope we can find something and get it.
