I have a suburban 10 gal DE water heater. I have never changed the electrical element out. I flush it once a month. The heater element is working alright but was wondering if I should change it? It's been there since 2005. What is involved in changing it?
If you want something to do,change it.It will probably go for years with the care you give it,all depends upon water quality that it has seen. Some residential heaters that I know of are over 30 years and some have lasted 3 years.
I see no reason to change it if its working. You are already flushing more than most do and there is no reason it should not last many years. They either work or not. Changing one out is just a matter of killing the powe, disconnecting the leeds and unscrewing it from the tank.
I believe there are full instructions on Suburbans website.
