The 04 does NOT have a Navistar and until just the last couple of months, NONE of them had a Navistar engine. The Sigs will not get a Navistar engine until sometime in the future, when the big one is certified for RV use. But, to answer your question, yes the Navistar is a very good engine used in thousands of OTR trucks and buses.

Stop looking at new MH's as you will not gain $200,000 worth of improvements over your 04 Dynasty. Yes it will have a warranty, but then you read about new ones being in the shop more than on the road. Did you get your charging problem solved?
This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.
I received an email Newsletter from Monaco. They mention that the new 2012 Dynasty is available and it has a new front cap design (they don't show the rear).
Here is a blurb about the engine...
"Built on the renowned Roadmaster semi-monocoque chassis, a complete steel framework, Dynasty comes with the powerful Cummins ISM 2007 emissions engine at 500 HP (or optional Cummins ISX 650 HP engine with a whopping 1,950 lbs./ft. of torque). With Cushion Air Glide Suspension, full anti-lock disk brakes and automatic traction control, you have ultimate control on the road."
2007 emissions engine? They must have a had a lot of them left over.
The Monaco web page is slow to be refreshened; makes you wonder if they are serious about the RV business. Newmar has ALL of the new 2012 info out on their units including pictures and floor plans. Monaco is still showing a 2010 Signature, no mention of a newer model. Apparently the Executive has been discontinued and the Dynasty has moved up the food chain.

MM, I saw a new 2010 Dynasy last summer with a 2007 pre BS emissions engine in it. Yes, they bought a bunch of engines but how did the new LLC get their hands on them and how much did they pay for them. Wonder which creditors got the shaft?
Calculated risk, but IMHO, a good solid business decision on Navistar's part to buy up as many pre emission engines as they could. I think the buying public will continue to prefer those engines over the bloats they are now producing. @Ivylog..how would creditors get the shaft...?....they make a business decision also...sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug.....JMHO....Dennis
I have no problem with the '07 emission engines, that's what we have and we've had no problem with the particulate filter. I just think Monaco should be on top of their website with their new models.
Showing a 2010 Monaco Signature as a new model on their web-site is a little behind he times.

This is the exact logic we used last fall. Our local dealer kept calling us as he was acquiring different used rigs such as a Travel Supreme Alante, several newer Monaco Dynastys and a few HR Imperials. We went and looked at a few which the wife liked but she would then say that she wouldn't trade ours for any of them. I said, "then why are we wasting our time looking at the others."
I am completely content with our 'old' 2003 Dynasty and have sunk a lot of money into her this year on new slide toppers and shocks. I just got it where I want it and cannot justify another $100k to upgrade five or six model years or a step or two higher in the heirarchy.
