I am a fulltimer and use PA quite a bit. Do you have a smartphone? If so, PA has a free app - it is great - all the info about every member campground, restrictions, direction,s and phone # - all on your phone.

Where can you find this app? I can't even find reference to it on their site.

Edit: Disregard - finally found it in the market.

The DW just signed up for PPA . Were planning on using it on are way down to the Southwest, were going to spend sometime this year in Utah and Nevada before heading to Arizona. I'm not into travel clubs etc. I just want to go where I want to go and stay where I want to stay. The DW did some research and thinks we could use PPA as a discount in some campgrounds, when we head south. Has anyone had experience using PPA? I did see where some campgrounds have
restrictions where they don't honor PPA during certain months?

You're going to have to do some research wherever you are planning on going. I'd guess that a majority of the PA parks have some kind of restriction. If not certain days of the week, it'll be the months it can/can't be used, or a restriction on the number of days it can be used for.

Also, keep in mind that it is very likely that parks have only a certain number of sites that the PA discount can be used for and the discount might not be able to be applied to ALL sites.

With proper planning, PA can end up saving you much more than the cost.

We have been members for several years, and have stayed at several places where the discount applies during the weekend., so read the fine print. It's perfect for us.

By the way, I should have mentioned that just because the campground lists a restriction, depending upon how their business is going, I have called and asked if a campground would give us the PPA rate anyway and many times they have.

We've stayed in a few, seems like where we go there aren't any. But did stay at Briarcliff in Myrtle Bch for a week during the summer. Great place and rate was about $22. Restrictions read that it wasn't valid during that time but I called and they said come on! What a saving...over $140 that time alone. Now at Prairie Oasis in Henderson NE. $17 a nite. Not worth the $30 reg price as sites are small 20' and side by side....your slides could touch!

We have used the discount provided to members several times at some CG's on a trip out west and in our weekend trips in Florida. Covered the cost of member a few times over this past year. Discounts have been as great as 50% off regular fee. Well worth the membership fee.

You can pay a lot more to other CG discounters/camping clubs and only get 10% off the normal rate at member CGs.

It seems some people focus on the problems with PA rather than the benefits. Yes, parks do have restrictions and black out times and are sometimes located out of the way, and I have stayed at a couple that were not very nice, but when I look at the positives I always renew and I have never come close to not coming out on top for the year. I usually pay for the subscription within the first month or two and then have the entire rest of the year as "gravy." If you want to stay 4 nights and they only allow PA for two...you still are ahead of the 10% off rate of GS and others. I think it is a good deal.
