hi i bought 2 honda eu2000i gens. (w/parallel unit)to run my coleman mach 3 ac unit in my travel trailer, the problem is they will only run the ac for a few minutes before my generators go into "overload mode", i have had the gens. checked out by a honda tech and the ac unit checked out by a coleman tech and both checkout fine, after talking to honda and coleman reps on several occasions the honda rep told me he thinks there could be an issue with the generator "inverter" technology and the converter technology in the travel trailer, im wondering if anyone else or has heard of this problem, any help would be greatly appreciated. i have also talked with an IOTA rep and he says he has never heard of this problem

Interesting. I had a EU3000i unit, and it ran my 13.5k btu AC just fine for a couple of years until I moved up to a bigger RV.

We have the eu2000i and the companion and together, they run our 13.5 Coleman Mach AC with no problems and there's power to spare.

Definitely not right. With our 2 gens I can run the a/c + WH + micro if needed.

My guess is that it has something to do with the parallel hookup. Maybe one of the gensets is getting more than half the load. If you have a Kill-a-Watt meter you could check the actual watts outputted by each genset when running the RV.

i have 1 eu2k, it runs my coleman 13,500 btu a/c unit. i can run a radio or computer or a small tv as well. i must shut off the a/c if i use the micro or toaster/coffee maker. then restart the a/c afterwards. using the fridge and water heater on gas.
the only time it kicks onto over load is if my freeser starts at the same time the a/c is kicking in. to much load with both compressers starting. i can run it this way for days if required.
ps: i use the boat tank method of extended running. (i bought a extra fuel cap. drilled the vent out. epoxy glued a brass fuel line barb into the cap. then run the fuel line to the boat fuel tank. i now have four times plus the run time, between fill ups).

This seems like a easy thing to test out - throw the circuit breaker off for the IOTA Converter. I would turn off everything 120VAC inside the trailer except the air conditioner for the test. If your A/C needs 12VDC to run the thermostat then only have your trailer battery switched on. Give that a try.

Then if the Air conditioner is running normal off your two generators start turning on each 120VAC circuit breaker one at a time and see what starts up your problem again.

It should run it. Another thing to try is to make sure the fridge and hot water heater are in gas mode, if they are in "auto" they might be overloading the generators. The heating elements in both draw a lot of amps.

We have the same equipment. Ran the dual Honda's in parallel for hours (until I had to add fuel) in 100+ degree weather at 5,000 feet over July 4 weekend.
