Whoop. Looks like boatandrvaccessories.com already has the 100A Powermax.

Care to be out guinea pig?

It's a big sucker. Specs here are different than Randy's above. Be sure you have the room.
That's the regular Pmax 100A. The Boondocker on Randy's site has higher voltage along with being PF corrected. I think I have the ok from the DW on the Boondocker but I'd have to sell my Paramode.

Is this still lekely to be an offender and would you step up to a 9280 if you were going to charge up the batteries about half the time with the Honda and the other half with the Onan. Or is all his just about the time it takes to get them back up to 90%?
I don't think any Onan's put out pure sine wave but I don't own any either. And, yes, this is just about the time to get to 90%. As far as I know, there's not much difference after that.

K, that's the clone WFCO PM were making under licence. Not to be confused with the PM3B coming soon

Hmmm.

Specs said it was PF corrected, at least.

I removed the post.

Well, it's been a long time since I participated in this posting but as an update, I bought the PD9280. So, easy to install. Thanks for the knwledge gained from this forum.

Well that sounds like a win-win!

(sorry BFL)

Sell it before it does what a reliable source says seems to happen to a fair number of them.

That one is PF corrected too but at a lower charge voltage.

I told the DW I wasn't in a hurry but that's probably a good idea.

also are you saying that charging my batteries with the motor home's Onan 5000 will charge up the batteries faster than a portable 2000 watt Honda even though the inverter is the same?
Also, don't understand the point that a 9280 will become a 70 amp charger. Are you suggesting that I need to up the ante and move from a 9260 to a 9280?

The H2000 should easily power the 9280. PD has a reputation of tapering current somewhat before full voltage is reached. The effect is ~70 amps instead of the expected 80.

I am not sure the H2000 will power the 90a IOTA at full rating for a couple hours. Anyone know for sure? IOTA will definately slam full rating into the battery.

Same with the 100a WFCO and PowerMaster 100a. They will be on the very edge of overloading the H2000 at max output. And that assumes the PM is power factor corrected. The WFCO is power factor corrected.

Otherwise the 5000w ONAN will only get a moderate workout.

BTW it is a bit more efficient to run the battery down 50% 60% 70% as you will then be charging at max amps for two hours solid. If you are down just 25% the battery will cause any of these big converters to taper the current within 20 to 40 minutes.

Maybe you would be fine with just two batteries and a 55 to 60 amp converter. Put the battery money into LED lights and it may seem to double the battery power.

C-2 is what you use to blow it all up with when you get totally confused with the acronyms.

I use the PD9260 unit here I can read 52 AMPS from it feeding my three GP24 batteries when they have been dropped to their 50% charge state. This is when the trailer shore power cable is connected to my 2KW Honda generator. I can re-charge my three GP24 batteries to 90% charge state is less than three hours when doing this.

I am not sure what the input amps is for the PD9280 with-out looking but my 2KW Honda generator revs up pretty high running my PD9260C 60 AMP converter and hardly revs at all running my WF8945 45AMP converter. Might want to check that out...

Just checked google...
PD9260C input power is rated at 1000WATTS
PD9280 input power is rated at 1300WATTS

Bet that would really rev up my 2KW Honda Generator. I think I have read that the 2KW Honda will only produce around 1800WATTS continous power output (something like that). I do know for an fact I cant run my PD9260C with a 1KW Honda Generator as a source of power.

You bet!

If you feel so inclined... we won't force you to do obsessive, extensive testing (like the psychotics on this forum would do, but then... if you want to...,) but after you've had some time with the unit, we wouldn't mind hearing your impressions.
