Good point, wbwood. I think there definitely is some of that 'embarassment' over using a tote, so people think of a zillion ways to avoid using one. Can't tell you how many 'strange' looks I've got over the years when dragging a tote down the road behind our truck, over to the dumpstation and back (Although, I also frequently hear comments like, "hey, great idea! We need a tote like that!")

I think some people automatically assume when they see someone using a tote, that it is full of nasty 'black' water, and is hence an increased environmental risk due to the risk of it spilling. Reality is, I think 95% of folks that uses these totes, use them strictly for grey water. The same grey water that some folks just dump on the ground or out in the woods and think nothing of, anyway, haha (although I realize thats a whole 'nother subject, dumping grey water on the ground).

Hahahaha, this reminds me of a few weeks ago, when we were heading home after a great, long weekend of camping, and we were parked at the dumpstation emptying the RV's tanks before heading home. A 'well-to-do' lady walked by and muttered, 'Phew! That stinks!'. I didn't say a word, but really wanted to say, "Golly, gee, you're right, ma'am - s**t stinks, including yours! If it didn't, there'd be something seriously wrong with you, haha!"

(YES, I was using a hose, with appropriate connectors, etc. to minimize any 'odors' getting out. However, as most anyone knows, occasionally a little odor *does* get out when dumping the tanks, regardless how well you try to prevent/contain such).

You get odors when you pull the cap off the hole at the dump station.

I've also heard someone say "That's what we need", when I've driven by with my big 35 gallon tote. I agree about the whole gray water thing and dumping it on the ground. I don't agree with people letting it flow, but when you think about gray water and what it really is for the most part. There probably is more harmful stuff in the RV wash detergent they use to wash their RV's that soaks into the ground.

I can see the new contest at next years Samboree! "Speed Dumping"! One truck, one trailer, and one tote. All contestants must use the equipment. Setup will be simple. Stabilizers down, electric/water hooked up, awning out with 2 chairs, a table and a rug. Keep it real simple.lol

Hey, yeah, good idea!

"Ready, Set....DUMP!!"

"..And they're off....MitchF150 is off to a great start, has the trailer hitched up in no time, getting ready to roll to the dump station...Ohhh! He forgot to pull up a stabilizer, bent it right off the trailer when rolling out! THATS gonna be expensive to replace, and will cost him a 2 minute penalty!...."

"..Meanwhile, wbwood moves the tote into position, attaches the hose, dumps the tank...rolls the tote over and hitches it to the truck, starts down the road to the dumpstation...Ohhhh, no!! The tote tank broke loose from the truck and rolled down and spilled into the neighbor's campsite! THATs gonna be a 5 minute penalty, and make the neighbors REALLY mad! But, still, wbwoood is sooo far ahead, and has plenty of beer to offer to the neighbors to apologize for the accident, that penalty is probably not going to matter..."

Can anyone get in on this.
This is mine after the pneumatic tire mod. Someone said in a differant thread that all I needed was a engine.

I carry it with us all the time. Most of the time it does not get used but when we do it sure is nice having there.

We also should probably be helping the environment by not driving big 2500 and F250 trucks too...

I can't see that it's a water conservation issue for saving the environment. I see it as a water conservation issue for not having to drag your camper or a tote.

I've mentioned it before. I think some people are embarassed with idea of using a tote. Not all, but some. My wife even thinks it's funny.

As usual on this forum my comments were taken way too seriously. I was merly pointing out that we have decided to forgo having to do either method by being more mindful in our consumption and how it has also changed my thinking of how we also can avoid being wasteful at home. THAT IS HOW WE CHOOSE TO DEAL WITH THE MATTER. Sorry if it differs from yours.

Every little bit helps without having to go over the top GREEN.

Nice storage! I am trying to figure out how to carry ours on the bus. I do not want to hang it on the rear, exposed to the sun.

Thanks. I love building mods.
