We are experiencing an outbreak of this virus here in the SE AZ desert. Please ensure that your pets have been vaccinated for this as some here have been affected. Just a heads up and a reminder.

Actually we have had a pretty bad parvo summer too. We always see a little increase in warmer weather, but this summer has been extraordinary. Perhaps fewer people are vaccinating or just a pathogenic strain???

We have a new puppy and our vet told us to keep her away from other animals until her series of vaccinations are done at approx 16 weeks of age. We took her on her first rving trip and took a bucket and some bleach to clear an area where we took her outside. We haven't walked her around the neighborhood yet and only have her around the family and neighbor dogs that are known to be vaccinated. We live North of Sacramento and apparently are having an outbreak too. We have been without a dog for four years now. We tried to go without one because of traveling but just could not overcome the beautiful Cocker that reminded us of our last two. She is a reincarnation of all of our past dogs. At 8 weeks she is diving in the pool, retrieving a ball, sitting and staying. And what a nose. Hide a treat anywhere in the house and she will find it.

I-10 South to the border, all of Cochise County, Tucson, Phoenix and Prescot are also reporting an outbreak in their areas.
I just want to pass on the information to the people that come here for the Winter to ensure that their pet's parvo vaccination is current before they arrive as our Snow Bird season starts the end of October.

There's a lot more to immunity than shots. All the vaccine does is tell the immune system what to look for... the rest is up to the immune system to actually develop and maintain immunity. Be sure you're supplementing beneficial bacteria (probiotics) and feeding the best food you can. The GI tract plays a huge role in immunity, so boosting the health of it gives your pup a better chance of mounting a successful defense to parvo or anything else.

Congratulation. YC 1! Cockers are wonderful! Check with your vet to make sure that other dogs, even though vaccinated, don't carry the virus from others. Just want you to be safe.

We have been in touch with the vet bi weekly and are being extremely careful. Thanks for the advice. Amazing how fast you become attached to the little critters.
I understand, I am attached to her and I haven't even seen her or know her name!!! Name and picture soon???
