Thinking of giving up my sacred annual pilgrimage to the UP of MI next summer and exploring the US shore of Erie (starting at I-77) and moving east along the shore of Ontario.

I've been perusing previous posts regarding this topic but would like to hear fresh opinions.

What to see? Best waterfront campgrounds without mayflies and massive piles of goose droppings.? Thanks.

Edit: For those that have done both, the UP and upstate NY, how do they compare? Thanks.

Thanks, but I am looking for waterfront, from the front door of my RV to the water without crossing a street.

Not sure which area you're interested in ..lots of this type of campground in the Thousand Islands area. Check out Assocation Island in Henderson Harbor, NY or if you like state parks better you could look into Wellsley Island State Park or Wescott's Beach ...all in the same general location ..

Lakeside Beach State Park is wonderful. The highway south of Lake Ontario is AWFUL if you are pulling trailer. Hobby horsing all the way.
