I have a 2000 Tiffin Zephyr. It has a bank of 4 12 volt deep cycle batteries for the coach. The bank also starts the generator. The engine start batteries are in a different bank. Looks like it is getting time to replace batteries. Does anyone have a recommendation? Is anyone using Optima batteries? Do the Optima batteries live up to the hype and worth the extra expense? Thanks

Optima makes good batteries. They are great for the right application. Motorhome house batteries is NOT a good application. Flooded lead acid 6v golf cart type batteries are by far the most common type used because they do a good job at a reasonable price. If you want to spend the much higher cost of AGM take a look at Fullriver DC-224-6 AGM's.

Yes they are 12v. I have the same motorhome and installed 4 Deka group 27 AGM batteries 10/16/2002. They are still working great.

Lost of extra expense to get a lot less power.

X2, I would replace them with four 6V's from your local Costco or Walmart. They are taller than 12V's so you'll need to check the height clearance. The 6V's are around 11" high.
