The Dodge Body Builder Guide doesn't go back to 2004, but the capacities listed for a 2005 2500 QC/ short bed are:
  • GVWR 9000
  • Payload 2230
  • Curb Wt 6765
  • Wt distribution F/R 4153/2612
  • GAWR F/R 5200/6000
  • GCWR 20000
  • Max Trailer Wt 13100

If your pin weight approaches 3000 lbs, by the time you put a hitch in the bed and load your truck, you will be exceeding the rated payload capacity by 1000 pounds.

Does anyone have loaded pin weights that they can post for 5th wheel toyhaulers 35' and under? Examples would be anything similar to the Raptor 297SE, Cyclone 3010, or Road Warrior 305. Although I appreciate all of the responses, I would like to see some scaled weights without the thread declining into an argument. My main concern is staying within my tire capacities and combined gross weight.

The lightest pin weights I've seen for the 5th wheel toy haulers are by XLR.

I can tell you my pin weight is 2640lbs empty trailer.
3450lbs fully loaded.

You may be lighter with a shorter trailer, but not by much. It mainly depends on bedroom slides and placement of water tanks.

When I scaled the toy Hauler listed in my signature the weight on my drive wheels was 5,000 pounds. If I remember correctly from when I scaled just my truck this put the pin weight right around 2,000 pounds.

Our Voltage pin weight is quoted as 2,361 from the factory. When we weighed it empty, the actual pin weight was 2,520. Loaded with the 2 big Harley's in the back (approx 1,800#) and no water in the holding tanks, the actual pin weight was 2,400.

Its gonna' be hard to find someone with the same toys and the same trailer but you can do some estimating on how much the trailer may weigh and its estimated pin weight. A 10490 dry may be closer to 13k-13.5k lbs.

I can give you some scaled weight numbers for your '04 Dodge truck. I have a '03 2500 Dodge/Cummins 2wd so numbers will be close.

Dodge gives us a 6000 RAWR for carrying loads in the bed. My rear axle unladin weight is 2780 lbs. The 4x4 is around 2820 lbs according to other 4x4 owners which leaves you with approx 3180 lb for a payload. Now subtract another 200-300 lbs for a hitch = 2880 lbs.
Now figure another 200 for gear over the rear axle and a percent of folks that set between the wheels and your down to approx 2600 lb for a max axle payload.
IMO the 2430 dry pin weight will be closer to 2800-3000 lbs. That particular trailer will most likely put you over the trucks axle/tire capacities.

The Dodge 3500 SRW has a 200 lb higher rated rear spring pack than your 2500 truck. Other wise its the same truck spec wise.
Some folks upgrade to higher capacity tires and wheels with air bags/Timbrens/etc to help with the sagging. Your choice.

I have 36' Fuzion and I haul an 800 RZR. My combined weight with the truck in my signature and trailer is 24500. Thats full water, ready to camp and additional diesel fuel in a transfer tank. Pin weight was about 2600 as I recall.

That pin weight seems light for a 36' hauler.
Do you have a bedroom slide?
