I would appreciate anyone's insight into this. We would like to watch the new GBTV, which comes only on the computer, but our internet access thus far has been via a Verizon aircard, and Verizon says the 3 hour per day, high def shows would quickly overcome our megabyte allotment and become prohibitively expensive.
GBTV says you can do it with a ROKU device, but those have to be hooked into some internet collecting device, which we only have on the computer.
While picking up an HDMI cable at Fry's today I asked the sales associate about this and he suggested using a device which would allow some other access to high speed internet. Since we're in our motorhome we can't use the hard line Comcast-Time Warner type, but he said there are other kinds.
Does anyone have any suggestion about this, and experience with how much it costs, and whether you can stream high def pictures without the incessant stop-start-buffering (or whatever it is)?
Yep, buy a Millenicom plan, which uses the Verizon infrastructure and you will be set. They have a variety of plans from their 20G for $60 to their unlimited plan for $70. Everyone I know using Millenicom is very happy with them.

Well maybe, I have the same device with another carrier and yes it works when there is service. But the bandwidth does not seem to be nearly enough to stream video. And there are big holes in the service map for all the carriers. None in the Great Smokies NP for example. These are cell phone devices not WIFI.

Yours is with Sprint, as is my clear unlimited plan. That is why I said the Verizon plan, which is 1000X better than the Sprint side. I will be switching to the Millenicom Verizon plan next spring.
