On our 6 week trip this summer the gps for the most part took us to where we wanted to go with no problems. EXCEPT for the time we went to Kingsbay Sub Base in St. Marys Ga. I had looked at the direction on line but did not write or print them....We were pulling our 5th wheel and going along nicely and we were going down a narrow street and suddenly realized that the back gate to the base up ahead seemed to be closed.....OMG what do we do now. I was lucky that I was able to back into a driveway on my good side and get turned around and when I finally got to the front gate and into the campground the mgr apologized for forgetting to tell us not to come to the back gate as that had been closed for over 2 years..Next time I will write down what they tell me...

Saw a television report a number of years ago about all of the accidents that had been investigated where someone traveled into road blocks and drove into lakes where bridges were out simply using the excuse of following (blindly) GPS directions. I don't know but MAYBE they used much more authoritative voices in those days I've never had any problem ignoring directions when they are obviously wrong.

My TomTom takes me all kinds of places we're not supposed to be.
It doesn't know that we're in a 40ft MH.
I hear now that they make one for truckers/motor homes?

I trusted Microsoft Streets and Trips once too.. Found that though USUALLY it takes you down streets, and Highways and Freeways and such.
Sometimes it's a real TRIP (of the bad acid kind)

I always check with the base/post/fort to know about any special entry requirements when using an RV. That back gate to Kings Bay is only open limited hours, even though it is very near the FamCamp.

It seems the GPS took you where you wanted to go. How is the GPS supposed to know the gate is closed? Maybe they should put up a closed sign before you venture to far down the road.
