You get a lot of different answers but I think thats because of the different regions.
They seem to do more damage than good here in CO. The UV makes them deteriorate within the year and the wind tears the covers and the covers rub on the RV damaging the gelcoat and even the rubber roof. I see a lot of sad folks in the spring when they do the spring cleanup.
Was it covered since 2004? Snow doesn't bother the RV much - not as much as the sun.

I cover mine, but I bought a good cover with vents on the top edges so that the wind will pass through. The sides are secured with tie downs that go under the trailer. For me living in snow country here in Ontario, anytime you can keep the wind and snow off anything, it will make it last longer!I still have ten years to wait before I can travel to the sunny south for 6 months of the year. Something called WORK is getting in my way!!!

You have to be careful when you read replys to your question.
A lot of owners purchase polypropolene tarps because they are the cheapest covers to buy.
These tarps were never meant to cover RV's.
These are the covers which will do a lot of damage to your RV when exposed to windy conditions.

If tied down securely they won't, been there, done that, it served me well on my last motor home, now with a 40 footer, it doesn't get any covering.

We use an ADCO with TyVek here in snowy Colorado, and when I remove the cover in the Spring, our graphics look as good as the day we bought our unit in 2006.
I've seen 2 year old uncovered units here that have graphics that looked like TOAST in this Sun.
We have no rubbing issues, and it takes about 20 mins to put on....a small price to pay to save your paint and graphics!

X3....those "blue" "tarps" will flat rub your paint raw! The ADCO with TyVek won't rub your paint.
Yeah, but they rot out in two years.
