A local Michelin dealer tell me I can get these right now:

MICHELIN LATITUDE X-ICE SNOW TIRES 265/65/17

My thought is: I really won't be using the tires much at all in snow and ice, so why buy these? Or will they work just fine for highway use pulling my camper?

Additonally, I suspect they will be LOUD on the pavement.

Don't let the dealer talk you into just tires he has in stock. He has a vested interest in unloading them...maybe not in your best interest.

There are plenty of tire dealers - hold out for exactly what you want and exactly the tire that is best for your situation and needs...not what is best for the dealer.

A 'snow' engineered tire will get less mileage, will be louder and rougher riding.

Aha! I thought as much. Will hold out for the Michelins that are best for our use down south. Kudos to you.

You won't be able to use 17" tires on a 16" wheel. Unless you also intend on changing the wheels, don't buy the 17" tires.

Hey...that's true, too. 16's on 16 inch wheels.

Thinking of that, would it be advantageous to change to a 17' wheel? Or is that just large tire macho stuff?

The only thing 17" wheels will get you,are tires that cost more than 16s.
