Hi Joe, I want to re-open this thread as I am ready to purchase the converter...likely today.
So 45 amp or 55 amp?
Tx, Bill
I just upgraded to a 9200 70amp...
Purchased it at adventurerv.net for big$$$ savings
Here is a link to pictures of my completed upgrade (took around 30mins)

Hi Bill,
Lots of good buys on EBAY That's where we got ours.

An afterthought, make sure you use a wire size that will handle whatever amperage you decide on. I bought a high quality, arctic grade set of jumper cables, wire size #4 and used that wire between the converter and the batteries.

55amp will charge somewhat faster, if your batteries can consume the available wattage. It will also charger faster if you rig consumes a fair amount of amps during regular use that would consume the majority of the available 45 amp output.

We are not big power users, except durring winter...when we would have a genny with us (Honda 2k) and are running an electric heater.
My main objective is quick charging from the truck alternator when on the go (not durring winter) when we do not have a genny with us.
Note; I am not planning on upgrading charge wire from alternator.
So 45 amp..or 55 amp?

Honda 2000 will easily drive the 45 or the 55 amp PD4600.
I would go big on the PD so 55 gets my vote.

Will there be any gain or differance between 45/55 amp - when from alternator supply?
Will the smaller unit limit or affect charge from alternator.
The only thing I remember reading was pushing more amps thru stock wiring that might be marginally small (older camper), but you seem to have addressed that (4ga). I think it was at Best converter...just curious

I think your talking about 2 separate systems. The 45/55 etc. charger only charges the batteries when powered by an AC current such as the house or generator. The alt. charge from the truck is a completely different in as the batteries get there charge directly ( somewhat)from the alt. the same as the starting batteries in your truck. Unless of course an inverter that changes 12DC to 120AC has been wired in and your charger is plugged into that although I don't know if that would be of any benefit. Are any of you hooked up this way?

So 45/55 amp would have no bearing on charging when we are on the road?
If this is the case...then 45 amp would make more sense as it would draw less power when running the genny (with the result that charge time would be slightly longer than with a 55 amp)?
