If I were you, I would read what is stated as tow capacity in your Owners Manual for your specific vehicle (Year/Mode/Axle Ratio etc.)
I would not exceed it........

I would look at the true weights but my best guess would be 19' is about the largest. That 5.7 is only 250 hp and the 4X4 reduces the tow limits, I would be surprised if you could go up to 6,000 lbs.

I haul my Ultra and my wifes Heritage in a KZ MXT20. Dry weight is around 4500 pounds. Maxes out at about 7000 pounds if I remember correctly.

You would be surprised, the Suburban is a very adequate tow vehicle. We have a 2004, I pull a 2007 Fleetwood Nitrous TH, with an Ultra Classic and 1/3 tank of water, we are pushing close to 7500 lbs. I want to say the max tow capacity is close to 9000 lbs, but cannot remember exactly.
Of course I have a WD hitch, friction sway, Prodigy brake controller, etc... It has the 5.3L, get about 10-13 mpg when towing (13mpg down I-10, 10 mpg up I-95)

Thank you all. The manual does not say so I had to go on line. 7500 seems to be the weight limit. The Suburban before the Excursion was the vehicle of choice to tow. I have spoken with owners of travel trailers that use half ton or smaller suv's to hall say 30ft plus trailers. The key I was told it is the speed and type of terrain one encounters.
I am seeking an older more formidable toy hauler as I plan to live permanently in it, sorry I forget the term, LIFER? in RV lingo. I am new to this life style so a learning experience for me.
The other ooption is to by an older class A motor home, say a pusher unit diesel powered with 6 speed Allison, and pull a 20ft trailer with my Suburban and Ultra in it. From all the units I have looked at on Ebay and elsewhere this is also a challenge.
WHAT SAY YOU?
Thank you all for any contributions here.
Ron
