I know there are web sites that will list walmarts, truck stops, rest areas, etc in all the states...but is there a site where you can type in a city and have ALL the overnight parking spots in that area show? ...the sites I have found you have to check each type seperately (rest stops, truck stops, walmarts)...tia!
I don't think so. Even the most comprehensive lists I've seen do not have ALL the places one might park overnight. They have only what is known to, or has been reported to, the author of the list.

I did some looking and found this site that does what I want...type in a zipcode or city and it lists rest stops, truck plazas, and walmarts and shows them on a map...my question now is "Has anyone here tried this site and how do you like it??"
If you're looking for a place to camp that is free then I'd recommend "Don Wrights Guide to Free and Under $12.00 a night Campgrounds". It has thousands of entries in two volumes (east and west of the Mississippi) but id does not have any parking lots. Just all Govt. campgrounds (fed, state, county, municipal) and a few RV Parks and private campgrounds that meet the criteria.

US Govt survey shows three out of four people make up 75% of the total population
Not exactly what the OP is asking for, but related: iPhone App called RVPark Finder lets you enter in any city/state name, and it lists campgrounds in order of closest to city. Nice because it includes ratings, contact info and links, etc.
I find this quite useful when planning a trip or as changes arise.

I subscribe to it. I plan on renewing it when my subscription is up. Not the 'end all', but I got my moneys worth.
