Hello out there in the virtual world.

We are trying to decide which tablet best meets our needs, please share your experience with us however you see fit.

We do like the Samsung tablet, but do have some concerns with the books apps. We hear the term "Jailbreak" to get certain apps and then we are told we do this the warranty/support has been jeopardized.

Not clear about these data plans. we are not looking to increase our out of pocket expenses. We currently have Verizon MIFI 5GB plan till July 2012.

I hope I have provided enough info to at least get some beneficial input.

Thank you all in advance..

Can't tell you about the Samsung but I have had the origin iPad since the day it was first shipped. I love it and may upgrade to the iPad3 rumored to be coming out in 2012. i used the Kindle App (free) to read. My wife has a Kindle (as a Christmas present from her daughters) and we have both her Kindle and my iPad tied to the same Amazon account so any books we read can be downloaded to both devices. I love the Apps available )a good portion of which are free) for the iPad. I can't think of anything negative I might say about the iPad.

We have the Verizon 10G MiFi plan (because I work on line) and the iPad works fine with it.

iPad is still head and shoulders above the rest of the pack.

Depending on what your specific needs are, you may not need to fork over the money for an iPad or Galaxy Tab 10.1. Something like the Kindle Fire may be just what you need.

Howdy!

I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab that I like very much. It is the Sprint verson but I have not connected it as I prefer to use WiFi to connect. I like the android over iPad as I have a android Sprint phone. I have not had problem using the kindle android apt for books. I also now use it for our GPS using the apt from Co-Polit Live. If I already had a iPhone I would go with the iPad.

Couldn't be further from the truth. I have the iPad2 and the galaxy tab. The galaxy tab is far better. You would not believe the difference flash makes. You will hear that apple has more apps. The reason they do is because they have to. The app is apples way of compensating for not having flash. Why do you need an app if you can get the full website? One iPad2 is going to be on ebay soon. Try the android powered tabs out. You will see what I mean.

You don't think the fact they Apple defined the modern tablet and had a years head start had anything to do with it? How about the difference in app business models? So far it has been easier to make money from the Apple App Store than from the Android Market. Many Android apps have to rely on advertising within the apps to make money.

BTW, you did hear that Microsoft also decided not to support Flash in their tablet OS and that, earlier this month, Adobe announce that the new version of its Flash Media Server supports HTML5 video to support IOS devices?

I have tried several Droid tablets and still contend that my iPad is head and shoulders better than anything else out there. The number of times where the lack of FLASH is an issue has dwindled to where I don't even notice it anymore. I know it's fashionable to bash APPLE, but the facts are insidputable. Don't go by my view alone. Look at the reviews and ratings on major tech sites like CNET, PCMAG, etc. The iPad is THE top rated tablet on all of thise sites as well.

I started with home computing back in 1979 with Radio Shack Color
I've had dozens of different PC since so I know what I'm talking about.

A year ago on a quiet morning at Best Buy I was able to play with an iPad for an hour. It was fully loaded and on WiFi.
It blew me away, I saw the future and it was in my hands.
I bought it for my wife. She was basically computer illiterate. She is now an adept user, wired to the world.

Tried them both. iPad is the winner in my book. (My employees in my IT department are the ones that convinced me to try the iPad) I heard a radio report yesterday the Kindle Fire is nothing more than a device to make purchases from the Amazon.com website, and doesn't really compete with a "true tablet".
