Check out the North Pole CG near the Lake Placid KOA. It's near Whiteface Mtn. & right now the leaf peeping is great. We are in L. Placid this week (not camping) & there's lots to do.
Good luck.

I'll have to wait til next spring now, we already booked for Association Island.
We'll go there for sure. We have no kids, this place looks quieter ? than a KOA ?

We wanted to go to Lake Placid at the KOA but they were already all booked up. How is the drive to there I wonder from Kingston? hilly?

I've been to Old Forge (not camping), nice town, we'll go again.

nice truck to you too
Looks like we are towing trailers of similar weights.... same with the TW
how do you like it? any problem in the hills or anything?

The drive there is pretty easy, the hills don't start until you get into the park and closer to Lake Placid. I haven't taken that trip with the new trailer, we just got it this year. We were there twice with our hybrid and an 04 Ram with a 4.7 and it struggled on the hills a little, lots of reving, but the Hemi will handle it much better.

No problems towing the new trailer yet, the truck handles it quite well but I wouldn't want any bigger of a trailer. With the 3:55's it has a hard time holding OD for any length of time, so watch your trans temp, but does quite well in 4th. If I could do it over I would have got 3:92, but for the 6 or 7 times we tow the trailer per year, this will do.

Enjoy NY.

I think (??) using the tow/haul button will keep it in 4th gear in the hills?
Same here tow maybe 5 or 6 times per year max

We really enjoyed Association Island and plan to return next year. We will book a deluxe view site next time. I also second the vote for Lake Placid KOA. Have a great trip!

Next year come over to Ausable Chasm where we have a seasonal site; the Chasm is fun to visit and has many activities.

any updates on Adirondacks area as to where to go to "be in" per wife, the color? Going to be heading to Eigth Lake area Monday 10-10-11. Anyone been up to St Larwence Seaway lately and have color update? Worried about hills? Try a diesel next time, night and day difference. 2003 chev working nice.

We were in Lake George this weekend and drove home through Old Forge. the "color" is really not great this year I had read an article saying that it wouldn't be because of different weather factors and they were right. There were a few areas of nice red trees just before we hit Old Forge but not the beautiful colors we normally see in the Fall ...we have had some gorgeous sunny weather though so I guess we will have to be content with that this year
