White Castle. Tried them in Louisville-ONCE. Wife's relatives in Louisville call them "mini-one-burps" or 'Sliders"

Stopped in Fredericksburg this spring (again) coming from California and ate there. Locals told me about it. Lunch there 3 days in a row.
Lockhart has good B.B. Q. but my favorite is any of the FOUR places south of Houston near El Campo. Three on the right headed south. Big parking lot's. Heinje's on left.

A third recco for the Shady Maple in PA. Otherwise, Poor Boys in Bar Harbor for sauteed lobster and Mainely Meats at the Atlantic Beer Company for fine beer & ale, root bear, blueberry soda, and great pork BBQ - in Maine! All in Bar Harbor.

I've got two in Texas. Willey Nelson has a place in Hillsboro TX. That's where I-35E and I-35W meet. Its called Willies Place. Just look for large frog on the roof. There chicken fried steak is excellent. Its just to large of a portion. It takes up 3/4 of a dinner plate.

The other place is a little further south on I-35. It is called "The salt lick" in Driftwood Texas. Rachel Ray gave the salt lick very high marks and we agree with her. We have been there four times and we live in New Jersey.

I existed one summer on White Castle hamburgers loaded with fried onions when I was 18 (lo, many years ago).

Mel's Diner in Tomball, Texas. Just ask the locals for directions. All fresh and they have a 1 foot tall hamburger that will get your name on the wall if you can eat it all.
Good luck!

Because I have entirely too much time on my hands and because we used to have an "Original Oyster House" in Cincinnati (a hotbed of fresh seafood), I did a google search and found them all over the country. From Everglades City to Seattle. Apparently, no two owned by the same folks.
And White Castle. When I was a kid, it was a treat to go to White Castle when they had a sale. 10 for a dollar. Normally 12 cents each. I still "Buy 'em by the Sack" but they aren't 12 cents anymore.

Retired and visiting as much of this beautiful country as I can.

Any Mexican food place in southwest New Mexico. All a little different all good. The New Mexico state motto is Red or Green? refering to the kind of chile you want your meal smothered in. Note most NM enchilads are served flat, with chicken or beef, smothered in the chile of your choice with , an optional fried egg on top, great meal. Rolled enchilads, cheese, are usually found on combination plate with a chile rellano, mabe an tamale, a taco beans and rice all except the beans, rice and taco smothered in the chile of choice. A lot of chile is too hot for the wife so she orders it on the side so she can test it. Many places will bring you a sample of their chile red and green so you can try it before ordering.

There use to be a place in Jacksboro TX called the Green Frog, mabe gone now, it was years ago. We use to drive 50 miles to eat there. Chicken fried steak covered a large platter with a heap of french fries on top, gravey was serve in a bowl, no room on the platter. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.
