Anyone been salmon fishing in Pulaski NY? I'm thinking of trying it this year and was wondering if there are any campgrounds that will fit a class A? I've been to other places along Lake Ontario but never fished the Salmon River while they were runnning? Any good places to park a motorhome around there?

I have only seen Selkirk Shores State Park from the water so I can't tell you what ammenities it has. There should be info on line. I used to fish that area extensively, had a camp/cottage on the Little Salmon River.

My cousin fishes there all the time. He thinks its far above average. He's been fishing there all his life. Of course, many areas are good fishing if the fish are biting!

4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

I stayed at Association Island numerous times while in that part of New York. It was a nice RV park with a great view of the sunsets on Lake Ontario. I never fished in Pulaski, but, several times, drove over a bridge on route 3 where many others were fishing. I think it was about 20 miles south of the Island.

The state park is right there ; there is a ramp as well.
We never went far; small johnboat will do...

'Trailer Hole'
ramp

zoom in or out to orientate yourself; it is right at the mouth of he lake.

You will be lined up bow to stern along both sides of the river (need two anchors), with the occasional cast resulting in two opposed fisherman yelling 'fish on'...until the line comes taught and they've caught each other...

Or further up you can wade as well. If you go too close to town, you will be elbow to elbow.

I remember catching salmon, steelies, and brown all in one weekend trip.

Been a couple of years since I have been, though.

A lot of fun, and worth doing, for shure.

I've stayed at both Selkirk and Brennan Beach, as well as having had a camp out at Sandy Pond. All are relatively near by. I've always considered Pulaski to be a circus. I much prefer fishing either So. or No. Sandy Creek. Both are accessible from Rt. 3. If you get a chance, try the Golden Fish in Port Ontario. The only restaurant I've ever been to where you can wear your flannel, jeans, and hip boots while the DW wears a "dancing" dress and neither of you will feel or look out of place. The food is good too. And the homemade donuts are the best.
