Congratulations Jenn, the most important thing is that you feel you paid a fair price for the trailer you wanted, it doesn't really matter what anyone else thinks. I hope you don't let some of these guys get you down, and hope that you enjoy your new rig .Scott

There are no absolute buying rules. My best advice is to shop around. Narrow your search. Once you you have located your exact model with the exact features you want shop that model at several dealers both local and out of state.
Shows are great for looking and making contact with dealers, however each dealer has their own pricing and may or may not have better show incentives.
The ultimate key is to know exactly without doubt the model and features you want and to shop around and let dealers compete for your business.

Heres our final outcome.

Went to the show and it helped us pick the trailer we wanted and the options we preferred. Spoke with a factory rep and the dealership owner and got their best price and walked away. Got home went online and found the exact rv with identical options, $4,000 less than show price. Placed our order last night with RVW.
I believe the best advise was to know specifically what you want shop the prices and find one that you are comfortable with.

Thanks for all your input.

While I believe the gent said that. I do not believe it will happen. 20% means a $40K Rv would go to $48K! Ain't going to happen in today's economy. I suspect the gent was paid by the folks trying to sell RVs at the show to motivate folks to buy now....

No disrespect to the gent who attended that "How To" seminar, but I agree totally with cruz-in.

Considering the Washington POLITICS at play, the economy is going NO WHERE EXCEPT POSSIBLY DOWN until after the election - and then, who the heck knows. In any case, I can't possibly imagine any significant change in RV pricing - they will probably remain in the "buyers market" range at least through 2012.

"How to Buy ANYTHING" SEMINARS should always include the following point with which I will end my response........

The buyer must be constantly aware of the awesome negotiating power that he possesses - The Power to WALK AWAY!
