Just got a supposed traffic violation ticket on my email from Chatham Hall, NY.

It's a scam - don't open the attachment & delete the email.

It was in the news here in CA they were doing the same thing but calling on your house phone. Then asking for information that if they really had a ticket of yours they would have already.

Along with the quick test is they would not have your home phone number or your email from a ticket.

Are you home at the stick house in NY? If you are, print out the e-mail and report this to you local County Clerk's DMV office.

NOBODY issues traffic tickets by Email so shouldn't catch many with it. How are they going to match your tag number with your email address?

I seem to get dozens of scam e-mails, this being only one of them. I've also received notices saying that I owe the IRS money, that my bank is about to lock down my account, that my PayPal account is about to be suspended, and that my credit card has been improperly used.

The funny thing is, most of the e-mails I get like this are sent to an e-mail address that is NOT connected to my banking accounts.

I NEVER click on the links in any e-mail. If I have any question, I go straight to the web site in question by typing in the URL myself.

It's probably worth remembering that scams aren't just confined to e-mail. A few days ago, we got a scary-looking letter in the mail from some guy, claiming that our property tax was overdue. It was some scammer trying to buy distressed properties from unwary homeowners.

(And yes, my property tax had already been paid.)

One I get most often about my home loan. Have owned two houses. Paid cash for both.

I just got two emails, one they were frantically trying to contact me to give me my Dell laptop computer and another one from the USPS with an attachment concerning a package they tried to deliver on the 15th of Sept. took the email to the post office and they looked up who the driver was and surprise surprise the 15th was a Sunday.
