We have a 45 foot Travel Supreme and a 22 foot v-nose trailer. we want to take it on dirtbiking trips. Some of the places have HUGE parking/camping areas, but it is a windy logging road to get to up. Would you think it is safe to say that if a log truck can negotiate the road then we can?

I am thinking I would ride ahead with a radio and make sure the road is clear (branches and other vehicles) and call down once I know it is clear and my husband will bring it up. They are usually 10-15 miles of logging road. If the road is clear, he will have safe use of the full road that generally is wide enough for 2 pickup trucks to pass one another. I am mostly concerned with tight turns, but thought if a log truck can make it, then we should. I wonder what the flaw is in this line of thought? Any tips would be great! Thanks

That sounds like so much fun! Dirt bikes, RV's, camping, & traveling. Ahh, RVing is great.


4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

One thing to remember is that you will pivit about 48 feet back. A lumber truck pivits about 10 feet back. This could be a problem. As you know it will hard to back up with that set up that you have.

A logging truck can turn a lot sharper than U will ever think of with the 45FTDP pulling a 22 ft trailer

You have the right idea... For decades we've dirt biked all over the Western Mountain States meeting up with friends in remote places that drove in large Class A MHs. Never saw one pulling a large trailer though, they mostly had high mounted custom racks on the back of the MH for up to 3 Dirt Bikes.

...but as you wrote, if limited to roads that Logging Trucks can go on, it may be doable. Although the limiting factor for logging roads may not be the turns but the ground clearance of the hitch.

If you want post a list of places, there's a good chance I've been to some of them.

Logging trucks go places no sane vehicle would dream of going. I don't think that is a sound criterion. A better idea would be to drive your TV up the road and check it out first.

Even if you don't get the MH and Trailer in the 10 to 15 miles of Logging roads. Riding dirt bikes in on the Logging Road to a trail head, at high speed is always fun too.

You'll quickly find 'your own' way to make it work.
