Reese Dual Cam WD/Sway control hitch with 800 Trunnion bars (need to change to 1200 lbs I believe)
We went out on 2 short trips with it and today, I noticed that 1 of the bracket on the A frame holding the cam with 2 self tapping screws is loose
That concerns me a lot
I read great reviews about this WD and chose it specifically but now, very disappointed about it's early failure.
I've googled it and find other people with same problem but unable to find real solution.
anyone?

Before any of us post ideas...can you post more details about your individual situation and some pictures (not someone else's picture). Just saying that it's, "coming apart." is pretty vague.
I've had the dual cam system on 2 trailers and used it for 10 years. Lots of towing, lots of miles and it has been flawless.

I can take a picture, but it would only look normal as in the screws are loose and the plate moves by hand. I suspect the screw will fall off soon.
Don't get me wrong, I am extremely pleased with how the Reese DC handles, There is no sway whatsoever while driving. My main concern is safety and reliability.
Like I said, the set up looks normal except that it moves and giggle when I handle it. I was able to finger tighten both screws. The other side is solid.

I don't think that strength of the spring bars will have any effect on tightening bolts. Just tighten it up again with lock washers and it should be fine. The strength of the spring bars should be determined by the weight they're carrying (15% of the GVWR of the trailer).

Why don't you just re-tighten the fasteners?

I'm wondering if maybe the self-tapping screws were overtightened and now the holes are stripped. If that is the case you may need to drill out the DC bracket and go to the next largest screw size. JMHO

I would contact Reese and tell them what is happening. They had a bad bunch of self tapping bolts if I remember correctly and I suspect that they will send you new ones to replace those that are on your trailer now. See this thread. If they don't I think I would take the advice of Drbolasky above and put in new larger ones.

I guess re-tightening would be too easy lol but why did they come loose? is that normal?
Someone suggested I use nutserts with red loctite instead of self tapping
This sounds like a good fix to me if the screws keep getting loose
Any other idea?

I sure wouldn't call that a failure of the hitch. It's a simple loose bolt ~ your going to have to take care of far more serious repairs if your going to own a RV!

hummm, I just didn't expect a bolt like this coming loose after 2 short trips.
I didn't realize that these bolts were not fixed there forever and needed tightening.
I'll be sure to keep an eye on it from now on.
