I am looking for a good indoor storage facility near Fort Wayne, Indiana for my 40' Class A. Does anyone have any suggestions? I just emailed 1 facility in Elkhart, IN and another in Bryan, OH asking about availability and pricing. I would prefer something closer, but the only thing I've found so far in Fort Wayne is the Toyshed which sells condominiums for storage and I'm not interested in spending $45,000 to purchase a storage space.

So, you are then interested in tossing away $200 - 300 per month on rent?
I think buying your storage makes a lot of sense, provided you are going to be using it for more than just a year or two.

I think renting is simply just tossing your money away.

My advice is worth exactly what you paid for it.

I appreciate your opinion on purchasing the storage. I plan to store the MH from November 1 - March 31, so I'm looking at $1,000 per year in rent. I have considered building a steel building, but if I do that it would probably be unheated space.

For this season, it will definitely be rented space. We'll see about next season.

I wish I could build one, I simply don't have the space. When we move that will be a prime consideration of our next house. If you have the land, a 50' pole barn with concrete floor should be less than $20,000.

I have a 45 x 14 storage unit for sale at $35,000 located in Arizona. No need for heated unit! We are now basically out on the road, not full time, but close. I have it listed on the irv2 classified. I find if much more cost effective to own an RV garage as opposed to renting... JMO

I've been looking for some inside storage near Fort Wayne for our MH too. I found something in Angola for inside storage( I don't remember the name). Also, in Angola there's a company that can do inside storage as well as almost any type of work on your coach. Try Panterra. They offer heated storage and electrical hookup.

Enjoy the ride,

The argument about renting vs owning will never be resolved because we all look at our individual circumstances and they usually only apply to us. I do rent a 14x50 storage unit for $175 per month and I’m happy with my decision. I like having my 2011 RV out of the elements while not in use. I could purchase a storage condo in the same complex I rent but the taxes and owner’s association fees amount to roughly $100 per month. So I’m looking at annual rent of $2,100 or annual ownership fees of $1,200. For the $900 annual difference I’ll keep renting knowing I can walk away anytime. If I owned the unit I would have to hope that when it came time to sell I could recoup my purchase price. That is not a given in today’s real estate market. Plus if I kept $45,000 in my investment portfolio and realized a 2% annual return which is very conservative in today’s market climate, I would have my $900 difference between renting vs owning back in my pocket. Everybody has to do what is best for them but after just going through an exhaustive real estate transaction on my in-laws home, I’m not looking to add any more real estate to my portfolio.
