I think you'll be very happy with that purchase. You can bring a good toad with that coach too.
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

I can tell you I drove a Destination at Hershey when they first came out...Quiet...however the UFO chassis is no longer made (that's not a bad thing) ....there is a gentleman -Gramps- who has the UFO chassis and is quite the expert on it...He loves it...and while the idea was good....the timing was at the peak of the recession which killed it along with the 8.1L v8 no longer being made....Note there was an issue with the cooling fan which workhorse was aware of..Make sure this has been taken care of with the coach or have workhorse take care of it....

Those that had the need to install the roof ac units to augment the basement unit, what was the year?

I don't have basement air, but a couple of years ago I was at Frontier Town in Maryland and the guy camped next to me had what appeared to a new Winniebago with basement air. It was summer and the temp. was in the 90's. My two roof ac units kept the MH nice and cold and when I went outside I overheard the guy complaining about the ac not keeping the MH cool enough.

Any info is greatly appreciated.

I would take that money your are planning on spending on that and look at a Journey or Meridian and you will get far more coach for your money and have alot more resale value at the back end.
The basement air units are pretty good as I would not worry about having one.
What did you take exception to? Please give specifics This is a 2008, so perhaps they sharpened up things since they first came out.
Any info you have I can certainly use.
For the price that Winnebago wanted for those Destinations, there were way over priced for what you got.
They were orphans before they ever left the plant.
I was not a fan of the UFO chassis' and the brakes on those units were almost non-existant compared to the Freightliner chassis and brakes.
The interior and layouts were terrible. The materials used from the furniture to the carpeting were of some of the cheapest quality Winnebago ever used. Those bent warped plywood cabinetry is just ugly. Door quality was poor and windows were bad also. IMO, the quality of these was worse than some of the Winnebago entry level gas coaches they build.
The list can go on and on as they were not anyting that Winnebago should be proud of.
Like I said earlier, if you are looking at spending money on a Destination, you really need to take a much closer look at moving up to a Journey for the same money and getting alot more coach.

For the comments that roof air is noisy I have to say you have never been in a Newmar with their ducted roof AC. Mine is very quiet when running and I sometimes have to get up to feel if the fan is running. We don'thave to turn up the TV to hear with the AC running and that was the case on our few previous MHs.

I have a 2007 winnebago Voyage with basement air and heat. Have not had any problems with it other than not being able to keep up with the 100 degree heat in arizona for a week. I toured the Winnebago factory in June 2011 and was told that they are no longer using the basement heat pumps as they work too hard pumping cold air from the bottom to the ceiling
