HI,
We have plans to head up to Silent Valley RV Park in December for a week or so. We pull a 38' FW. I've read the reviews on www.rvparkreviews.com & no one has mentioned the roads to the park, but we met a couple who said the roads to the park were terrible (windy & steep) and they wouldn't pull a big rig up the the RV park.
Anyone drive the roads? Any thoughts of us puling our 38' fiver there?
The road up is steep, windy and narrow but having said that, I know many people who own big rigs who go there on a regular basis. Just take it slow and easy.

Thanks!
I have a 40'MH with Jeep in tow and I have turned down numerous free stays because of the road situation. I have driven the roads in the area in my Jeep going to and exiting Anza Borrego Springs - not interested in taking the MH.

Never stayed there. But have driven our dually crew cab to check the place out. Well I knew shortly into the drive our 39' fiver wouldn't be going there. It is windy and steep in places. My concern is going or coming when someone going the opposite direction and you meet on a turn. There is no "give" room in many places. And I usually don't mind city or rural driving with the fiver at all, but when it comes to this place and Silent Valley, it sure wasn't worth the effort to us. Just our take.
Silent Valley is one of the places we stay when in SO. Cal.
HWY 243:
Yes it is windy.......switchbacks
Yes it is steep.......4000' elevation change
Yes it is narrow......typical rural two lane road
Fact is the climb out of park up to Hwy 243 is very steep
Park is huge....lots of shady trees.....some strange site configurations.....lots of sites/therefore lots of rigs, all kinds of rigs.
We usually stay at least a week sometimes two.
went there years ago 7-8 years. did not have any problem with going up or down . just the road to the park from the hwy 243. steep steep had nice smelly brakes by time i got to gate maybe 1/2 mile . I did have a 1\2 ton with a 28 ft tt. then. that was the worst part of trip. nice big park.
