Bought the Oxygenics shower head a few years ago and really like it. Only down side is turning water off/on with the twisting you have to do to handle - often difficult with soapy hands.

For those of you who have installed a cut off valve, please let me know what you got (ball valve? also need dia of valve) and how it worked for you.

Would like to get in next day or two as we will be taking it camping this weekend. I'm stone's throw from ACE Hardware and also Lowes and Home Depot are close.

TT's in storage, so I'm being lazy and asking y'all for help v. driving to storage to size it up.

Thanks!

I have this one installed in my shower at home and one very similar to it but with a push button installed in the shower of our trailer. In the trailer, I installed it at the bottom of the hose instead of on the Oxygenics handle. I purchased the push button one either at Home Depot or Loews. Here it is at another place. Neither one shuts off the water completely but lets it drip a bit, which is good so you don't get the rush of hot or cold water when you turn it back on.

I bought this one at Amazon when I got the shower head. I'm sure you can find the equivalent locally.

I bought one that's a small slide valve that screws onto the base of the shower head at Home Depot. It works great.

Hi Barney, H'mm the shut off feature, well in 2 campers and 3 of those shower shutoff valves that have all leaked cold on me. Stone cold.

Why they leak cold in my situation I have yet to figure out. It is like it is pure cold...??

In the camper shower there is not a lot of wasted time to start with. To save on water, we do the rinse, shut off, soap up & wash hair, then rinse again. It is only off for less then a minute. Yet this dripping valve leaks pure cold water. Since both the hot and cold valves are still on, why only does the cold leak? The pressure is equal between both and the hot valve is on more then the cold valve?? (Maybe this is a rally contest to figure out the answer....LOL)

Has anyone ever had one leak hot?

With a mono lever faucet on the kitchen sink you find that right blend of water and shut off the faucet. When you turn it on, you get really close to the same temp between washing dishes. OK it may only be off for 30 seconds but why will this not work in the shower? I have seriously thought of converting to a positive shut off valve.

Any one know?

Thanks

John

PS to the OP, most all of these shower setups are 1/2" pipe thread. My Oxygenics and the camper faucet was.

I put a three large O-rings on my twist shutoff valve and that does it for us...

H'mm OK Les, what does "it" do? Leak hot, leak cold or no leak?

I went to Home Depot and bought one that has a nub you push to shut off the water flow. It cost $5.00, only downside is it only comes in chrome.

I finally figured out the momentary cold water after shutting off my shower wand is because of the check valve on my water heater outlet. When the shower head is shut off and continues to trickle the check valve seats allowing only the cold water to continue to trickle. There is not enough pressure to overcome the check valve seat until there is more flow which allows it to unseat. The only way to stop it from happening is to completely shut off the trickle like installing a valve like others have suggested.
