We crossed at Eagle Pass/Piedras Negras on the 31st with two dogs. We were not asked for their papers or questioned about anything except did they bite. Several large bags of dog food in clear sight on back seat of the jeep raised no comment.

So far only one person has reported to me they got asked for the certificate per the new regs. As most things in Mexico, enforcement to rules vary widely. I still intend not to take any chances & carry one. I am a long ways from home.

We have the documents but when we crossed today at Nogales no one even checked or asked. We are now in San Carlos and have yet to see anyone or be asked anything.

Does anyone else have information about this certificate. We plan on having one but will be issued Oct 27 and we don't plan on crossing over until Nov 13. It would be a long way back to Canada to get one if needed. I sure hope this doesn't become too big an issue, especially for us Canadians heading down.

Our vet in Williams Lake did all the research on the new regulations. He did the health check, refreshed the required shots and the special shot especially for Mexico, and the Canadian Food Inspection/Federal vet signed and stamped it all. That should do it. We will be crossing here in Tecate on Thursday. Cross your fingers, don't want them to "take" a stool sample from our big fellow!

Don't freak out about the "taking" of a stool sample. If you read the clarification to the original post, you'll see that he meant to say that the vet required them to provide a stool sample for testing.
Again, Form 7001 is readily available on the internet to be filled out on line. We cross in the morning, have our forms filled out and don't expect to need them.

We crossed the border at Tecate, MX on November 3rd with two large dogs. No questions and we were not even brought into secondary for an inspection.

Crossed into Mexico last week with my three very obvious English Setters, and once again the Mexican border officials didn't even pay a nanosecond of attention to dog papers, certificates or pets foods. Had everything with me any way, in case they did.

We crossed at Nogales. The guard looked in the motorhome and asked if the dogs were Labradors. We said yes, he smiled and that was that.

We crossed about ten days ago at Lukeville and were asked to produce health certifications for our two dogs. Luckily we were prepared and had the certs. The official checked them, and said OK. Not sure what would have happened if we hadn't had the forms signed by our vet?
