We have a '07 Keystone Cougar 292RKS 5th wheel with a Suburban water heater. We just pulled our rig from OH to FL to spend the winter. For lack of a better term, we have a "hum" in the water heater and hot water lines whenever we open a hot water faucet (whether the water is heated or not). I thought it might be a lack of an air gap, so I just went through the air gap replacement proceedure (twice) with no change. Any of you ever encounter this problem? Thanks!

Assuming it's not the pump...my guess is that the check valve in the water heater is sticking or beginning to fail.

Sounds like a check valve either in the water heater or the city water inlet if you are hooked up to city water.

Only happens when using hot.....doesn't happen on cold?
Water heater check valve sticking......look at water lines on heater for a cylinder looking fitting (can be on bottom-cold inlet or on top-hot outlet).
Can remove/knock internals out and put back on.............just remember to replace when you go to 'winterize' rig.

A few weeks ago I finally went and bought a check valve to replace the old one. It really was a straightforward job - but it definitely took a deep dish socket and breaker bar to break the old one loose. That solved my problem, so...on to the next one, whatever it might be.

I gutted our check valve 4 years ago but will replace it if we ever winterize. this would be bad news for us because it would mean we are staying home for the winter.
