Hey all, we just bought our first TT (got to learn that lingo) a few months ago, unfortunately we didnt locate inside storage of our Gulf Stream Innsbruck 30BHS. Therefore i am concerned about leaving it outside during the Michigan winter, i am concerned about long term damage with snow and ice setting on the roof which brings me to the question about what do i use to cover it? Or not? I will be parking ir regardless in the middle of my parents 80 acre bean stubble field to keep it away from the trees, so wind could be an issue. We plan to keep this unit several years and want to make sure we go the correct route for winter storage.
Thoughts?

Up until we started going to FL in December we covered our MH with a cover from Camping World. The new covers are better than the one we have and we found that a good cover makes a difference. You never want to use a tarp since they are not designed for covering an RV.

We cover ours, leave all of the vents open and let it breath. Have had no problems.

Make sure it is winterized (with the pink stuff), and leave at least a few Damp-Rid containers in five gallon buckets (the buckets keep the stuff from getting on the floor if the container leaks). Then cover and call it done.

Cover it, helps keep it clean and protected from the sun.

That's what we did for several years, but we had a parking spot sheltered from the wind. Last winter, knowing we would need to get the camper out early (i.e. March), we didn't cover. Left the vents closed but cracked one window open (the kind that hinges open from the top, not a sliding window) for venting. It worked well.
Ditto on the mouseproofing, though there is no 100% successful solution to that.

Never covered or tarped the unit for 14 consecutive years in northern Michigan heavy snow area. At times had 4 feet of snow and ice on roof. Never had a problem. Just make sure the seems are caulked or checked yearly. We did use Damp Rid and used the trailer every other weekend for all those years. Maintenance is the key. If the roof is weak or the unit bad, expect problems. With a sound unit you should be OK

Think about what the roof looks like after __ years of exposure.
Search this Forum for `RV Cover'. This topic is discussed frequently this time of year.
